Things aren’t going great for Bret Sheehan. His marketing job is in peril, his girlfriend has left, and his beloved Uncle Michael has come to the end of the line. On top of all that, Bret is kind of a jerk. When everything comes to a head, Bret decides he has to take his uncle’s ashes back to Ireland to fulfill the old man’s wish that he be returned to his home, to “the land of his blood and bones.” The Legend of Castle Cove follows that quest from Ohio to the elemental landscapes of County Kerry, Ireland, where Bret encounters many wonders not mentioned in the tourism brochures.

Crombie Hill (2023), a novel by G. M. Donley.
ISBN
979-8-9876725-2-5
$16.99

5 x 8 in., 414 pages

In 1988 Ellie Webster finds a neglected family heirloom—a series of letters documenting an ancestor’s migration in 1818 from New Hampshire to the shores of Lake Erie in northeastern Ohio. Ellie persuades her sometime boyfriend Axel to accompany her on a bicycle trip to retrace the route and gather material for a college history honors project. Crombie Hill is the story of that adventure and a reprise 30 years later, with evolving personal relationships set against well traveled landscapes and the peculiarities of American history and culture.

"Crombie Hill" by G.M. Donley offers a captivating blend of literary prose and historical fiction . . . lyrical and immersive, drawing readers into the heart of the story with its vivid imagery and emotive storytelling . . . a timeless meditation on the connections that bind us together across generations." --Goodreads/A Look Inside (4 stars)

Night Music: Images from dark and noisy places in Cleveland (2023), images by G. M. Donley.
ISBN
979-8-9876725-5-6
$24.99

8.5 x 85 in., 88 pages, 81 color photographs

These images are from a two part project: hand-colored photographs made between 1989 and 1995, and digital composite photographs made between 2006 and 2011. In both cases, the images were about the noise, the dark, and the energy of (usually) punk and alternative rock shows in small venues around town. The musicians aren't identified, partially because I didn't ask for any official permission, partially because I don't remember who half of them were (if I ever knew names). I was trying to make images about sound and motion rather than taking pictures of people. I think of this project as my love letter to the great, feisty independent rock clubs of Cleveland, past and present.
